Well, The Region Championships has arrived!
Be sure to pack your things Friday night so you can leave for the meet without any stress on Saturday morning. Plan for it to be cold and wet--probably snow.
The bus leaves at 7:45 am from Payson High. The meet is at Springville High School. Remember, you can print off a copy of the region course using the link to the right,

10:30 AM Varsity Boys
We are so excited to finally sink our teeth into the region. Good luck!
New Site
The following site is now the OFFICIAL site for Payson Cross-Country and Track. All new info will be posted there. The blogspot site will no longer receive new info. The big advantage of this new site is that it is not blocked by the school's server and so can be viewed from school.

Kearns Cancelled
As you probably heard, the Kearns Invitational that was scheduled for this Friday has been cancelled. INstead we will be competing at the BYU Autumn Classic on Saturday. You can see the meet on the calendar. It will be at the East Bay Golf Course in South Provo. Basically at the South end of University Ave. It is also the only meet that charges an entrance fee for specators, (I think it is $3, but check the link below to be sure). Meet info can be viewed at:
http://www.byutrack.com/Various/Special/Meet_Info/2007-8/Autumn-Classic/Aut_Clas-07.htm
This is a very big and exciting meet. Most of the state will be there. It will give us anopther chance to run against our Region opponents and be our first look at what the rest of the state has.
It also has a college race, which should be fun. There will be at least one former Lion running in the college (Melissa Baird) and maybe more. We can cheer for them!

Check out the calendar to know when our meets will be. You will need to plan early to attend these meets. That includes asking for the time off from work :o)

Camp Cancelled
Well, not enough people signed up for camp this. We had to cancel it. We, the coaches, are a little bummed out. Maybe it was the timing. Who knows?
There is still a possibility of doing a shortened version of camp (just 1 night) later this summer, perhaps in August. We will keep you posted.
But, we are also very encouraged by the turnout we've been having at our summer practices. We are looking very strong for this coming season! Keep working hard and we will see a lot of PRs get broken this year.

5K Fun Run for Charity
Last Summer I worked for a non-profit organization called "The Central Utah Center for Independant Living." They provide equipment for disabled people, like wheelchairs.
They are hosting a 5K fundraiser on June 30th in Springville. I think we should all do our best to be in the race and contribute to this great cause.
For race info click HERE.

XC Parent Meeting
As you know, in order to have any overnight events we must have a parent vote. For this upcoming Cross-Country Season we are planning to have 3 overnighters: XC Camp in July, Cedar City in October, and Footlocker (California) in December.
We will be having our parent meeting to vote for these on Thursday May 17th at 6:30 pm in Coach Peck's room (E-7). It should only last for 10 minutes. We must have 85% of the parents vote "Yes" in order for us to be able to go on any of them. If you're planning on doing Cross-Country, please have your parents attend this meeting!

Launch
3-2-1-Lift Off!
Announcing the launch of the new and improved Payson Track and X-Country Site.
When I discovered that the Nebo internet filter was no longer blocking the Blogger sites, I quickly created a Payson Track and X-Country website. It is more interactive and user-friendly. We will still be relying on the old site until all of the info has been transfered to the new site. (To see the old site, click on "Coach Rockwood's Website" under the heading "Important Links" to the right.)
You will notice to the right, that our season schedule is included as a Google Calendar. You can browse and click on events to view the details. More stuff will be added in the future, so check back often.
Enjoy!
