We even saw a few meet records broken. (We almost saw a national record in the medley go down). All the Payson athletes that went had a great experience, competed well, and even got some Olympic autographs.

We are extremely excited that outdoor track is finally here. If you have not yet put your name on the team roster or picked up the essential paperwork then ou must see Rockwood ASAP! We will be beginning official practice on Monday (Feb 23) at 3:00. We are planning on meeting on the outdoor track unless it is under snow, even if it is cold. So dress warm.

We have a good number of recruits so far, but it is not enough. You must talk to your friends about joining our team. The more we have on the team, the more successful and the more fun it will be. Our goal is 100 athletes!

Because basketball is still going on, our track teammates who are on the boys and girls teams will not be starting with us on Monday. They will begin when their season ends. In the meantime, please go to their games and throw your full support behind their efforts on the basketball court. One of our coaches, Coach Stevens, is also still involved in basketball. He will be joining us when it is over.

Also, the results of our compatibility tests are in. We will be selling the results for $3.00 each during lunch this week. Please get your own, and get your friends excited about getting theirs. Remember, this is one of our track fundraisers. and we NEED the money for what we have planned this season.

We'll see you on Monday!

-The Track Coaching Staff
A Lion Pride, Together We ConquerCoach Rockwoodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10321600897283090786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5587389489839278986.post-62114558001876562732009-02-02T16:19:00.002-07:002009-02-02T16:22:08.512-07:00SIMPLOT Final InfoFinal Info and itinerary can be found by clicking here:

SIMPLOT INFO 2009

Please note that the $20 for the team lunches and snacks is due by this Friday. Meet on the basement track at 3:00 PM in your workout clothes.

Indoor Track is our pre-season conditioning program for those of you who are not playing a winter sport to get into shape. There are several meets in January and February, culminating in an Indoor State Championship and the Simplot Games. The last year that we participated in Indoor track (2006) we were the Indoor 4A State Champions. The Simplot Games is the largest high school indoor track meet in the country. Info about Simplot is available form either Coach Rockwood or coach Maria Thatcher.

The cost for Indoor track is $20. That money will go towards a team shirt and for your entrance fees into the various indoor meets that we will attend. (The meets are not free.)

We are anticipating to have the greatest season yet. But remember, a successful track team is a big track team. Talk to your friends into coming out. The more people we have, the funner it is.Coach Rockwoodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10321600897283090786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5587389489839278986.post-13843861676020396232008-10-28T08:40:00.002-06:002008-10-28T08:43:31.812-06:00One More Banquet ChangeIt feels like this XC Awards Banquet is bouncing around like a rubber ball. So far, this has been the best summer running program ever! You are all doing a great job of attending and working hard. Remember, the summer is the training season for XC. It requires discipline and focus to consistently run throughout the summer but it will pay off in Sept and Oct when we tear through our races like crap through a goose! If you haven't come to a team practice yet, they are every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7:30 AM.

Camp will definitely be held. If you have not paid yet, get to it so that we have the money to buy the food, shirts, and other needed items. We have made a slight change. We will be holding the camp at PHS instead of Shadow Mountain. This will allow us to add more clinics, guest speakers, use facilities like the weight room and pool, and other advantages. It also allows some of you to come for only some of the days, if you have a conflict. The price for the entire camp is $75. If you can't come for the whole thing, then the price will be $25 for 1 day and $20 for each additional day. This will pay for your food, your shirt, your camp packets, and the other expenses that the team incurs . The dates are Monday to Thursday, July 7 to July 10.

We have some great stuff planned. it will be the best camp we've ever had!

Stay Strong!Coach Rockwoodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10321600897283090786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5587389489839278986.post-50559947260406824962008-03-02T22:41:00.003-07:002008-03-02T22:48:42.954-07:00Rockwood's Book!Well, my book is almost ready. I am finishing up my review of the proof from the printer and fixing a few typos here and there. It should be ready to go by the second or third week of March.

If you're curious you can check out the book's site at www.SportPsychSchool.com The book will be available in hardback (for classroom use) and in paperback (for personal in-home use).

It was a real thrill to finally hold a copy of it in my hands, the fruit of so much hard work. The rewards of hard work is the #1 lesson you should be learning as an athlete. I hope that you feel that great sense of satisfaction and pride that comes from sweating, vomiting, and bleeding your guts out and then seeing the results.

Keep working hard in school, sport, and life. You will find it tremendously rewarding.

"Victory belongs to the most persevering."
-Napoleon Bonaparte

Coach Rockwoodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10321600897283090786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5587389489839278986.post-67025756897961165992007-10-05T14:02:00.000-06:002007-10-05T14:08:06.164-06:00REGIONWell, The Region Championships has arrived!

Be sure to pack your things Friday night so you can leave for the meet without any stress on Saturday morning. INstead we will be competing at the BYU Autumn Classic on Saturday. You can see the meet on the calendar. It will be at the East Bay Golf Course in South Provo. Basically at the South end of University Ave. It is also the only meet that charges an entrance fee for specators, (I think it is $3, but check the link below to be sure). Meet info can be viewed at:

http://www.byutrack.com/Various/Special/Meet_Info/2007-8/Autumn-Classic/Aut_Clas-07.htm

This is a very big and exciting meet. Most of the state will be there. It will give us anopther chance to run against our Region opponents and be our first look at what the rest of the state has.

It also has a college race, which should be fun. There will be at least one former Lion running in the college (Melissa Baird) and maybe more. We can cheer for them!Coach Rockwoodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10321600897283090786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5587389489839278986.post-44970866623925685192007-08-24T14:40:00.001-06:002007-08-24T14:42:07.909-06:00MAP of REGION COURSEHere is the link to a map of the 2007 REGION COURSE.
